home grown goodness

as discussed yesterday, i headed to Longview this past weekend to spend some time with my parents while Bret had to put in some hours at work - he is dealing with a particularly difficult client at the moment so i know he will be very grateful once they are live and he can be done with them!

but anyways, i got into Longview around 6:30pm on friday as a surprise.  My parents didn't know i took off early from work and were not expecting me until 9:30ish.  I love when i get to surprise people! We sat on the porch, talked and caught up on life, ate some yummy soup and banana pudding then i hit the hay! It is always fun going home because my mom is a People subscriber so i got to catch up on all my celeb gossip while flipping through all her magazines.  guilty pleasure.

we were up and going early on saturday morning. got to enjoy the crisp, east texas morning air.  always my favorite time of the day! Maw was at the house by 11:00 or so and the four of us were off to the historical town of Jefferson for some downtown strolling and antique shopping.  I love little towns like Jefferson full of history and character. I found a few fiestaware pieces to add to my collection in a retired color as well so that was a bonus! We ate lunch at a local burger joint, shopped some more, grabbed some coffee for the road and headed back to Longview. My parents and i relaxed, daddy cooked homemade chicken stir fry (yummm) and then we went to bed. there was a LOT of walking that day - pretty much wiped us out.

the weather sunday morning when I got up was again perfect.  i got to sit outside with my parents, drink coffee, browse the wedding announcements and then daddy fixed mom and i a big home style breakfast.  always the best part about going home - food! After that i packed up and headed back to College Station.  Stopped at target to pick up lots of birthday cards & gifts for several birthdays coming up and then got home, hung out with the husband, and then passed out!
