a little low key goodness

Happy Monday you guys! Any big President's Day plans?? I know this is a super popular holiday so I bet you guys are out waving flags and wearing special little outfits and what-not, yes? No? I am at work.  It's a holiday for us techincally (owned by a bank business) but I am here instead of where I am suppose to be - VOLUNTEERING.  Today is Bravos Valley United Way Day of Caring and I was suppose to be told last Friday what I would be doing today and I heard nothing.  So, I came up here last night to see if they had tried contacting me at work and I even called up to UW and left a message and still... nothing.  I don't understand.  :-/  Oh well, I tried I suppose... Instead, bring on 8 hours of double pay! Yippee! (volunteering still trumps money in my book though, for the record).

So I have been reading over the blogs and I see you guys had a great weekend and lots of fun Valentine's Day memories out there.  Good for yall!  Bret and I are not real big Valentine's Day people so we keep it pretty low key.  That's us and that's how we like it!  Since Bret was away half of the week I decided to do a fun little project for him (and me too I suppose).  Let's just say it looked like this:

Well, Mr. Bret got in from Kansas City Friday evening and low and behold did he not walk into an apartment of love:

There were some hearts in other small little places but this allows you to get the jist of what our house looked like.  The heart fairy decided to visit while Mr. Mathis was away :)  Yes, those were all hand cut by me and yes, they all have cute little things written on them.  I was a cutting & writing fool Wednesday - Friday if you cannot tell!  Super fun and Bret's face was super entertaining, lol.  We got to enjoy the hearts all weekend!

Our actual weekend involved a lot of Olympic watching and lazy time. Pretty nice if I do say so myself.  Some other stuff went down as well but sorry, cannot talk about it just yet.  I am waiting for some very important confirmation until I share with the world what is happening - Let's just say, I don't want to risk jinxing anything!

Friday night Bret got in about 6:30pm and we decided to hang out with some fun peeps:

oh wait... that's us... moving on!

Good times, good times.  Saturday we did some piddling around.  Well, I say that... I ran 12 miles (woo woo) and cooked my hubs some breakfast tacos.  See previous post.  I know my place. Then we had an errand to run, grabbed some Whataburger for lunch and then the afternoon was spent doing nadda.  School work and Olympics.  Fun, fun!

Sunday, actual Valentine's Day, was a day of celebration.  February 14th marked mine and Bret's 1 year 10 month anniversary, it marked my 4 year anniversary with my company, it was a good day for the reason I cannot give details about just yet AND of course, it was VDay! Lot's of stuff.  What did we do? I ran up to work to check some emails, worked on school work with a classmate and we watched Olympics.  Awesome huh? Haha.  Bret did make a super yummy Chicken Parmigiana dinner that was perfect.

I normally hate pictures of food but that still looks pretty dang tasty to me.  That is Bret's plate.  My piece was WAY smaller than that.  He's a growing boy though so it's all good.  And yes, that is a TV tray because we do not use our table and yes, we were watching the Olympics.  Perfect Valentine's Day for me and B!
