My Twilight adventure started when Bret and I needed a new book on tape for a trip to Springtown. I had heard a few mumbles in passing people in Barnes & Nobles about Twilight, I knew there was a movie coming out soon so, I decided to dive on in. Bret and I were hooked after the first book. A world of crazy, yet good vampires. A girl who should not be in love with one but is. There maybe werewolves, shape-shifter creatures involved as well - Sure, why not! Needless to say, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years soon followed so with each trip we had to make, we downloaded the second and third books. After we ran out of road trips Bret and I had to break down and actually read the last book for ourselves. I let Bret read first then I took over - Very interesting.
I do not want to give anything away for anyone who decides to read these books but they are, without a doubt, interesting. I must admit thought, I would have a very hard time letting my teenage daughter read these books. I know that is the target audience but I feel the passion is a little too in depth for a teenager. While I am not naive enough to think kids are not getting the same thing from movies and TV shows, but there is just something about these books. There is just a lot of raw emotions - A 17 year old goes practically into a walking coma because he boyfriend left her. Now, I know there are other factors in these books (obviously, I have previously mentioned vampires and werewolves) but still, I just feel the emotions these books could draw out of teenagers is a little much.
Backing away from my motherly soap box - Good books that will introduce a different world to it's reader. They are lengthy however, and addicting so if you plan to start reading them prepare yourself to be committed!
Enjoy xx
