Get Your Nutrition On!

I just finished a MUST READ book - Well, a must read that is if you are into nutrition and being healthy. The book is titled "The Daily Fix: Your Guide to Healthy Habits for Good Nutrition" by Alexa Fishback.

I first saw this book while flipping through my Women's Health magazine - Which, side note, I have randomly started receiving Women's Health and Redbook. I think someone is trying to tell me I am getting old and need to work out. Back on track, this book is very good. If you are in the least bit interested about learning to eat right and have a balanced diet I recommend this book.

I am not the type of person, at all, to read self help books or any sort of book on how to better myself so I was pretty skeptical about this book. But, what Alexa does is talk to women in their 20's and 30's about daily routines and wants to where you feel this book really applies to you. For example, "Unlike a diet, you do not go on and then off a habit- you form and adopt it, and it becomes part of your life. It doesn't matter so much if a few times a year you get together with friends to polish off a pint of Ben and Jerry's, or if you need an extra-large chocolate chip cookie when you are PMSing. In fact, enjoying your favorite "junk" foods once in a while is necessary part of life (says your nutritionist)."

The book goes on to tell you small ways you can cut calories without making a huge change to your food choices, how to enjoy your morning coffee without feeling guilty and how to make smart, yet still tasty decisions, while going out to dinner. This book takes real life scenarios, business lunches, travel trips, late night eating, junk foods and even Starbucks cravings and breaks everything down for you - There are even very easy recipes and a list of staple goods that you should always keep in your pantry! I am starting to get on my soap box but the moral is, read this book if you are interested in finding a healthy balance when it comes to your nutrition without giving up the foods you love - well, unless all you eat is fried chicken :/

If someone else reads this book, please let me know if you find it as helpful and enjoyable as I did!
