Our New Year celebration started Wednesday morning when Bret and I head to good ole San Antonio to see Diane and Craig. We met them both for lunch then headed over to see Bret's good friends, Steven and Magan. After hanging out with them while Diane was finishing up at work, Bret and I headed to the Summers' place! It was our first time to see Diane and Craig's new house so it was a pretty special trip. It makes me happy to see how well my dear friends are doing and how they have started this new life for themselves in San Antonio.
After hanging out for a bit we popped our first bottle of champagne to get the night started! What is New Years without champagne after all?!
After the first celebration we headed to dinner then down to the River Walk - It was so pretty down there (well, once you got past the 250,000+ people that were bumping into you and stepping on your toes!) We listened to a band for a little bit then headed to Mad Dogs to meet up with Steven and Magan. The club was fun with karaoke but I must admit, it got 10x's better when a bar back came up and put a table down in front of us with chairs for everyone! I am a fan of when the tables come to you - Cannot get much better than that! Oh, the simple things in life! At midnight we popped open our bottle of champagne, toasted to the new year with some dear friends then sang Auld Lang Syne to the sound of bagpipes. All-in-all, it was a good way to ring in the New Year.
Actual New Years day was mostly spent in the car - Bret and I drove home from San Antonio then I cooked black eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread. Bring on the good luck and money!
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Years. Whether you were sitting at home or out with friends, I hope it was a great start to your year and you were doing exactly what is was that you wanted to be doing. I always get a little teary eyed and mushy around the New Year - The passing of one year to the next always gives me a chance to look back and see what it is I have accomplished and where my life is headed.
May the New Year find you filled with love and happiness, peace and wisdom and above all else and understanding that there are going to be good days and of course bad days, but push through and 2010 will be here before we know it!
