THIS is why I don't cook...

Let me set the stage... I got a sugar cookie recipe from my Mother-in-Love last week in aspirations to bake. Well, then I noticed I didn't own a few necessary items (cookie cutters, rolling pin, crisco, baking powder, vanilla.... see where this is going). So, this past weekend I got my rolling pin and cookie cutters and this week Bret bought me the actual ingredients I needed.


All week I have been pumping myself up to make cookies. I have been super stoked, planning to bring them to work and then once Bret and I discussed I could make them Maroon, I planned on making plenty for tailgate! Boy... I am not meant to bake.


I attempted first to make my snickerdoodles I have been wanting. I just used the same recipe, rolled the dough into balls and then rolled that in sugar and cinnamon. I could not get enough flour on my hands for long enough so by the time I got about 8 made I was covered in dough and my rounded cookies looked a hot mess. Whatever, I got them in the oven and moved on to making the remaining dough maroon = blue and a LOT of red food coloring.


By the time I got the right color (like 30 minutes later) I had taken my "snickerdoodles" out of the oven and had consumed 6 of them out of complete frustration. (and no, they were not good. Burned bottoms. Gooey center. Whatever)


Honestly, it all just went down hill from there....


A) apparently not enough flour
B) didn't know I wasn't suppose to use a hand mixer and now there is dough in the machine that will never be coming out
C) cookie dough EVERYWHERE (see above comment)

Results? Crappy snickerdoodles and a trash can full of maroon dough.

Oh yes... Bret escaped this mess by being at Fox & Hound will Kelly. Lucky.
