Mommies rule the world!

Another busy, fun, exhausting, wonderfully crazy, fast moving, family lovin', perfect weekend down - A million pictures to go!

Bret and I headed out of College Station Friday afternoon to good ole Round Rock, Texas to spend Mother's Day weekend with my family. On the way we passed through Hutto, Texas home of the Hutto Hippos which I just adore! College Station has something very similar where the town's businesses painted trains. Hippos kick train butt.

After eating a gourmet dinner at McD's in Hutto we got to Round Rock about 8:15pm or so. Dad and our nephew, Benjamin, played baseball in the front yard for a bit, our niece, Julia, gave us a tour of the house and then after the kiddos went to bed, we all stayed up talking and playing games. I played Spoons for the first time and I have learned two things: 1) I am horrible at spoons because I am afraid of people hitting me and 2) spoons is a violent game - My husband and sister both just about took my hand off on four different occasions. I just stopped reaching for the spoons in fear of my life hence reason #1. Oh well, life goes on.

Saturday morning, bright and early, we all got up and headed to Benjamin's baseball game. He did a GREAT job. Ben got a home run, scored a run, had a double play and was the star of the game. In my eyes at least.
Check out his teams fantastic little website: http://www.redsoxbaseballclub.com/

Bret and I loving life at Ben's baseball game:

Ms. Julia playing with the other girlys and showing them how to put on make-up:

Benjamin catching a ball at short-stop:

Could they be any more precious?:

Benjamin up to bat - Bring on the home run!:

Near the end of the baseball game we all headed out and rushed over to make it to the 4th quarter of Ben's soccer game. Busy, busy athletic boy! In the 4th quarter he scored a goal right off the bat! I can only imagine how great he would have been had he been there for the entire game! Can you tell I am very proud of our nephew. Julia is just as fantastic, she was bravely showing me her cartwheels she just learned to do in gymnastics. She is going to be a pro!

Shannon and I watching Ben play soccer:

End of the season trophy:

After all the running around we were beat and hungry so we headed over to Chuy's for a great Mexican food lunch - my favorite! Chips, hot sauce and fajitas definitely hit the spot and by the time we got back home I was full and sleepy. Mom, Shannon (my sister) and I went and laid out by the pool for a bit then I went back inside to take a much needed nap while watching Disney channel with Benjamin. Some show, Suite Life something or another, was on and the little kids from Big Daddy were on there. Man they got old! WOW.
After the nap, the Reinhardt's, Camp's and Mathis' loaded up in Shannon and Jim's RV and we all headed out to the Dell Diamond to tailgate with Benjamin's baseball team before seeing the Round Rock Express play some baseball! Tailgating was a lot of fun full with lots of drinks, sun flower seeds, fruits and veggies and of course hot dogs! No fear, I got my hot dog at the baseball game. Baseball Game = Hot Dog. This is a basic equation that all people must know in order to pass through life.
Ben and Bret riding to the baseball game - Notice the lights strung from the ceiling. Shannon and Jim just got back from a Jimmy Buffet concert. I can only imagine the shenanigans they got in to on this party RV:
Ms. Julia looking pretty as ever:

Jules and I playing around outside before the game:

My brother, Aaron, and my sister-in-law, Claire were able to come by as well. You cannot see really but my future niece, Avery, will be born at the end of this month! YEAH!:

Mommy and Daddy:

Benjamin and his baseball team got to run out of the field prior to the game to stand with the baseball players - They are in the blue lined up near the dug out:

Benjamin at short-stop. He was a little shy:

Ben on the far left singing the Star Spangled Banner:

My sister gave everyone their birthday presents when we saw her this trip - Bret got a new baseball hat to celebrate turning 27 in November!:

Here is my new pool bag for turning 24 in August! YEAH!:

Sunday morning we were all up again bright and early to celebrate Mother's Day together! We had a great time eating home made breakfast courtesy of my brother-in-law Jim, opening gifts and spending time with everyone. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful Mom and I am glad she got to spend Mother's Day with some of her Kiddos.
Mom with her shirt Benjamin and Julia made her:
Julia was an excellent help when it came to making omelette's:

Oh yum!:

Mom's Mother's Day gift - Attack of the tissue paper!

Mom saves tissue paper so she had Julia in her own private little sweat shop folding:

Now with the kiddos!:

Bret and I headed back to College Station around noon. We stopped and got some Ice Cream at DQ on the way and it was EXCELLENT. I love Blizzards and my Oreo one made me a very happy girl. Once we were home I guess we were more tired than we thought. Bret and I both took naps while watching a House marathon, woke up, ate baby pizzas, watched CSI: Miami and then were in bed by 9:00pm. Talk about some old fuddy-duddy's! Even with all the rest though my 6:00am work out this morning was still full of a lot of yawns! I need another weekend to get rested up from this one! We really did have a wonderful time though and I am glad we got to be a part of all the events!
This week does not hold any big plans for us. Thank goodness. Resting sounds like a great plan to me at the moment. I am sure I will be working out two times a day as usual, eating, sleeping, the basics. I got my test book in for my Summer I class today so I cannot wait to sit down and skim through that, yeah! But, our biggest project we are starting today is recycling! I did all the research this morning to find out exactly what College Station and Bryan does for recycling and Bret Lee and I are ready to go! I am very excited and as I told Bret, we are going to be our own little Captain Planets! This coming weekend is a free weekend for us so I am thinking cleaning house will be on the menu and Bret and I are going to have a Saturday afternoon date to go and check out Angels & Demons! I am super excited about this - If you haven't read the book, DO. It is super good and super clever. I am currently re-reading that book. As if I don't already have enough in my 10 book pile. Oh well!
I hope everyone had a great weekend, Mother's Day and yall's Monday has started off right!
