We're off to see the Wizard!

Last night, as part of Bret's on-going Anniversary gift to me, he took me to see The Wizard of Oz. I have always completely adored the Wizard of Oz since I was very young. I do not know if this happened in all towns but in Longview, every single year, The Wizard of Oz would come on T.V. Kind of the way they would show It's a Wonderful Life once every Christmas and Moses once every Easter. So, I can remember every year piling into our Library and watching the Wizard of Oz on a little bitty T.V. we had in there. (when I was a child, young young, we were Pentecostal and not aloud to watch T.V. - We cheated. And for the record we are now Baptist.) I digress. Last night was so much fun! The show started at 7:30pm and we had great seats where we could see everything. I thought they did an excellent job with the stage, the music, the graphics and pyrotechnics and well, the whole show! There were of course a lot of young children in the audience and I couldn't help but think while watching the show, wow, this must be a really neat thing for these kids! To get to grow up in a town where, to quote my daddy, "the caliber of talent is so available." I would have loved to been able to see this as a child. But, for those of you who have not been to Longview, it is not always on the up and up, so to say. At plays I always enjoy looking through the Playbill, in our case last night the "Opasbill" and seeing all the credentials of the actors. It seemed that almost every actor had been in the Producers, Oklahoma!, Annie Get Your Gun and so many more. The only one who didn't have a list of things was oddly enough, Dorothy. But don't you worry, she did have one credential: "Top Ten Finalist on MTV's The Search for Elle Woods" - Love it. She did a great job though and I am glad to know I was getting to see her while making her very own start! The night was a complete success and by the time we got in bed at 11:00pm I quickly found myself dreaming of munchkin land (also known as everyday life for my short little self) and wishing I had some ruby slippers of my own. Let's be honest, what girl doesn't want ruby slippers?

My hubby and I getting ready to head out:
