First, I bought and read David Zinczenko's book Eat This Not That which I really enjoyed. This book is for people who are interested in seeing the different calories you get at different restaurants. It compares a Whopper to a Big Mac and rates different restaurants. For example, something I am really excited about it Chick-fil-A was given an "A" rating because none of the sandwiches there are over 500 calories. Now you would have to be careful with their fries but considering your average dinner should range from 500-600 calories, that is not too bad of a bet. This book is not for people who want a lot more explanation - It is mainly a large adult picture book like I said comparing restaurants, showing you how to cut calories in certain places and also breaking down special events like Happy Hour, Vending Machine Lunch, and several menus (Mexican, Italian, American, Sports Bars, etc.). I was very surprised however in my book to see just how bad some "healthy" things really are for you. There were several instances where a grilled chicken sandwich was worse for you than a hamburger from the same place - I am talking up to 700 calories difference. That is a LOT. All-in-all though, I feel this is a good reference book to have around. Between this book and my Daily Fix book I wrote about a few weeks ago, I feel that I am really starting to get a handle of the correct type of foods I should be eating and exactly how many calories I am getting a day. If you read this book or even just flip through a few pages, let me know what you think!

The second book I read this weekend was Candace Bushnell's One Fifth Avenue. I very much enjoy Candace Bushnell books - For those who do not know who she is, she is the one that wrote Sex and the City and then several other "Chick Lit" books. Very easy, silly read and if you are looking for a book that you don't have to take too seriously then this is one for you!
