On the days that B and I don't get to carpool to work due to my school schedule, I get free reign of the radio station selection. This is a joyous occasion. Well this morning when I was pulling into the parking lot I switched the station back over to XM 20. I already have a difficult time listening to this channel in the morning because the DJs annoy me half to death but, I like to put the radio back on a channel I know Bret and I can both tolerate for when we leave to head to lunch. Anyways, this morning, my favorite DJs + callers were discussing cell phones. It came down to that one DJ believes that people who do not have an iPhone must be poor or just out of the loop. Seriously?! I honestly thought I must have heard him incorrectly. Then, a lovely caller chimmed in saying "people who don't have iPhones just piss me off. There is no reason other than laziness why people have crappy phones. Oh, and those people with the prepaid flip phones, they just annoy the hell out of me." This is when I said forget XM 20, I am going back over to NPR. Are you kidding me?! This is really what people are talking about on the radio these days?!
Ok, A) yes, I have an iPhone but I am no where close to being 'rich' nor do I consider myself in the loop with technology.
B) Tell me why somebody who doesn't even text need an iPhone. Chances are they aren't getting on the internet and the phone is purely for safety reasons.
C) Who the heck asked you to judge people based on their cell phone?! What if they had an iPhone and gave it away to somebody who didn't have a phone at all and just bought a basic phone? huh?!
D) There are lots and LOTs of phones out there that I have had through the years that were really good phones! And guess what? They worked and served their purpose but silly me, I had no idea I was considered poor for not having the latest form of technology.
ugh. if you cannot tell, this conversation really ruffled my feathers. As if I needed another reason to want to slap those annoy morning DJs. Protesting that station in the mornings from now on. Peace Out XM 20. Oh, and for the record, I still love THESE phones:

I add to your list ANOTHER reason why people (like me) don't have an iPhone. AT&T, the only provider who carries the iPhone, blows chunks where I live. So am I going to buy a phone that won't allow me to send a text from my living room? Hell to the no.

I do not have an iphone either. I have a blackberry with no internet plan. I have an ipod, but almost never use it and I am A PC!!!!!

Oh my goodness! That is crazy! A lot of our friends have iphones and whenever we make an actual phone call the call is usually dropped. On a road trip our friend was too busy playing on his phone to talk. We are not poor but we are saving money by not having iphones. Ridiculous!
Haha this is funny! What a weird topic to discuss...I live in South Dakota and we can't even get iPhone's because we can't get AT&T service...I wonder what he would think about that haha!
Wow, crazy, I don't know why anyone would think this. There are plenty of people out there who don't want to be available via email 24/7 or don't want to be tempted to surf the internet all day long. There's a ton of reasons I could think of why someone wouldn't have an iphone, but lazy and poor definitely wouldn't be the first things I would come up with.
I don't have an iphone. So now my self worth has completley gone out the door. Sad. sad. day.
