Well, I am back from Vegas and back at work. Boo work. Yippee Vegas! I had a great time and fair warning now. This is going to be a LONG post with way too many pictures. Abort now if you cannot handle either (or if you hate these type of posts). I do not want any complaining later!
Last time we spoke I was in the Houston airport about the get on my plane. My flight from Houston to Vegas was pretty interesting. Some key points for you:
- I sat next to a 17 year old kid who had been in Peru for two weeks with 3 of his buddies, without parents and was not returning home to start his Senior year of high school. What parents allows this to happen?! Also, turns out he is an alcoholic and loves to party. (What 17 year old isn't an alcoholic these days?) But, he was super nice and I didn't mind sitting next to him.
- The other lady in our row was a pig. When we got in the air she pulled out a back from Papasittos and proceeded to pull out two huge beef fajitas. I am talking onions and peppers included. On top of this she had salsa she pulled out and ate with them. While yes, they looked fantastic, the smell was horrible to be next to on a plane. Then, when the flight attendant came around with the turkey sandwich, chips and twix, she proceeded to eat all of that as well. My word woman. Hungry much?!
- I made the flight attendant mad. I was sitting next to a window and I was enjoying looking out this said window. I have never flown West before so I was taking in the view. Well, our plane decided to show Star Trek and everyone was asked to close their windows. Me however, still wanted to see the view so I only closed it half way. About half way through the flight I was asked by the attendant to put it all the way down. I am sorry, but why would I sit by the window if I didn't want to see out side? Soooo, I made up some BS about being claustrophobic and left my shade up. deal with it lady.
I got to Vegas before B so I caught a cab, headed to the hotel, checked us in then ordered me the best club sandwich I have ever had. Unlike the pig on the plane, I didn't eat my body weight in food that day so I was starving! Once hubs got there I was super excited! I hadn't seen him since Wednesday since he had been in Reno on business so it was nice to catch up and hear about what he had been up to. THEN, he told me he had a surprise for me - He bought us tickets to see Zumanity Saturday night for my birthday! YIPPEE!! This is a show that I wanted to see but opted not to spend the money since we are going to Jamaica in November. But, I got the tickets after all and I was very excited. Best.Husband.Ever.
Friday afternoon we spent time walking around in the hotels and shops, having a few drinks at Margaritaville and then taking in the night life. It was a great first night in Vegas!
Saturday was a day full of walking. Remember how I am wearing that pedometer for work? Well on Saturday I walked almost 25,000 steps. That is a lot of step my blogging friends. a. lot. But, it was totally worth it! We went and picked up our Zumanity tickets at New York New York, walked through the Excalibur, the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, still some gambling at the penny slots (big spenders, let me tell you) and then went back to the hotel to rest and get ready for our show! I must note that we did eat lunch in New York New York at a cute little Italian place where B had two of the largest pizza slices I have EVER seen and I had my first meatball sandwich, which I loved! yummmm
I give Zumanity 2 thumbs up - If you haven't heard of it, check it out on their website. Fair warning though, it is a "sensual" show so there is nudity. It's a Cirque Du Soleil show so you can imagine how fantastically wonderful it was. I was in complete awe the entire time by how strong everyone was. The strength I know it took for them to perform all of their moves just blew me away! If you ever see a Cirque Du Soleil show, please make sure and note how much hard work went into getting their bodies prepared for something so amazing. The show was hilarious, definitely adult content (you have to be 18 to even get in) and a GREAT birthday gift from B.
After the show we made our 45 minute walk back to our side of the strip, ate some yummy fajitas at Margaritaville and then called it a night. We were so worn out from all our walking! Plus, I had worked out in the room that morning so my body was double exhausted!
Sunday, we left Vegas. Boo. But honestly, after being there, I told hubs that I had no idea how people could spend a week there. Ok, I am not a big gambler so maybe that is why I don't get it, but a weekend was plenty! I feel like I got to see everything I wanted and I had a blast - I don't know though. If I go back I want to have a group of friends with me next time. That would be completely fun!!
My flights on Sunday were good - I had first class on both so it was nice to have larger seats, yummy food and free drinks. Bret and I were on separate flights so he beat me back to Houston. It was nice though because he had gotten the car and was waiting patiently for me in the loading zone! We grabbed us some sonic, drove back to College Station and got home just in time to watch True Blood! YEAH!
On my trip I did managed to finish the 4th Sookie Stackhouse book. While it was good, I believe I am going to have to take a break from these books. I find myself getting bored through this book because I think I am burned out. So, I am putting Sookie on hold and moving on to Julie & Julia and Mr. Darcy, Vampyre.
I hope you all had a GREAT weekend and thank you very much for all the birthday wishes. It was very sweet of you guys :)
Picture time!!
"Hi, I'm Katie and I am 24 today and about to drive to Houston to go to VEGAS!!"

I had to take a picture while we were flying over the Grand Canyon. Mainly because I wasn't 100% sure if that was it or not so I was going to ask Bret later. sad.

The view from our hotel balcony. I am so bad at geography it's sad. I had no idea there were mountains around Vegas. The land was so pretty!

As previously mentioned - the best and biggest club sandwich ever!

Equipped with the cutest baby ketchup bottle I have ever seen!

Let the walking around begin:

I am a huge Beatles fanatic so I was really excited to walk around the LOVE gift shop and what not. I have the soundtrack for the LOVE show so I didn't really care to see it as much as I would have thought. I have watched part of it online and stuff so I was good :)

Let day 2 begin! Walk, walk, walking! Side note: We went into M&M world just to check it out. Holy Moly. That place was a mad house! I never knew people were so excited about M&M paraphernalia. We got out of there pronto!

So much to comment about on this post!
I am a pharmaceutical rep and sell Viagra ... that song gets stuck in my head daily!! Secondly, we just got back from Vegas and did much of the same things. Loved the M&M store, ate at Margaritaville - yummy, debated seeing Zumanity but saw Ka instead, and didn't take one cab ride while he were there so walked a ton as well!
Looks like you had a lovely vaca!! I want to go back!
