IT'S FRIDAY!

well... Friday for my hubs and I at least! Once we get through this day of work we are off to Longview to head to Lake Cherokee for the 4th of July! Yippee! I can almost smell the fireworks in the air! No worries Steph, I will take some pictures and pop some for you. I would have asked the German's about fireworks as well - Hello! The 4th of July is only one of the most fun holidays, E.V.E.R. In honor of the fourth I would like to tell some of my favorite memories...

  • My Memaw use to have a 4th of July party ever year by her pool and I loved it! We would have sparklers, watermelon, dad would grill and it would be perfect. I cannot not help but think of Memaw during the 4th of July and wishing desperately I could hug her neck.

  • I can vividly picture me about 8, 9 years old in a one piece bathing suit that looked like an American Flag holding a sparkler and running around Memaw's back yard. Really, is there anything better than sparklers on the 4th?

  • In Longview they use to shoot fireworks off on the other side of town so a few years here and there we would pack up the family and go watch the show - I went with my neighbors one year and I remember sitting on the tailgate, looking up in the sky and loving every minute. To you get most east texas than fireworks from a tailgate? :)

  • I always thought my mom made amazing dishes for the 4th of July. For a few years she would carve a watermelon into a basket and fill it with fruit. While I know a LOT of people did this, it just always amazed me at the skill my mom had with fruit! (Daddy if you are reading this and if you helped with the watermelon project I give you credit too - I just don't remember too well!)

  • I have always loved being in Longview for the 4th because no matter who was there, usually Dad and I for the most part, we would go out to the road in front of our house and shoot off fireworks along with any of the neighbors that were out and about. Honestly, I am pretty much a big chicken when it comes to the loud pops and I am terrified of losing an arm but I still LOOOVE shooting off fireworks. They make me happy. For real.

Those memories are probably way more interesting to me since that isn't very much detail but those are just the little things I think about this time of year...

What did you use to do on your fourth of July? Any exciting memories? Did your family not really celebrate at all? Tell me, tell me!!

This year Bret and myself, my parents, my brother Aaron and his family, my brother, Bradley and his girlfriend, my parents best friends, their daughter, Morgan, and my dear, dear friend Kateland will all be trucking out to the lake to spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday boating around, riding jet-skis, grilling steaks, boiling shrimp, playing wii, rummikub, Mexican train, drinking malibu and pineapple juice, popping/watching fireworks and relaxing! I.am.stoked.

Also, I was thinking, since today is technically my Friday since I am taking tomorrow off.. I will go ahead and post all my text from last nights I have been reading this week!

  • (515): Omg Kevin Jonas is engaged!!!!!!(1-515): Omg really? To who. Gay marriage is only legal in like 3 states. ***Side Note: I read aout this last night on MSNBC and was very confused for a bit. I thought all the Jonas boys were like 12 years old! News flash for Katie***

  • (925): he looked about as manly as a guy in a volkswagen bug can look

  • (905): Who tried to make mustard cubes with the ice cube tray?

  • (336): Awkward medical moment of the day: A very obese girl with a disorder that literally makes her hit herself punched herself in the face. Literally. While screaming 'MCDONALDS MONEY'. Right. Beside. Me.

  • (508): Do I have a sign around my neck that says "SWM desperately seeking ultra-plus-size woman that likes everything I do"? I swear they're organized(914): No, but you do have a sign around your neck that says "Free cupcakes."

  • (202): just got waxed at a place I havent been to in a while(202): woman didnt remember me then in the middle of waxing she announced that she just didnt recognize my face

  • (916): He went through and tagged himself on my crotch in all of my facebook pics

  • (870): I look better un-naked...

  • (479): okay I'm thinking he doens't have a facebook...I'm on page 28 of Hunters(501): ok you need to stop NOW

  • (949): Someone should tell Glenda that I only hang with her because she makes me look prettier.

  • (850): JoAnns office is warmer than mine. . .it must be because she has the gateway to hell under her desk.

  • (509): Dan is more possessive of me than a Michael Jackson is of McCully Caulkin(253): was*(509): True, R.I.P.

  • (860): And i quote: "where's y'alls from comin' in with them accents?" - from a mississipi mcdonalds

  • (770): If I were a woman I'd fill my water bra with liquor so that I could sip on it throughout the day.

  • (603): Is it sad that the only reason I haven't lapsed into depression is that I'm prettier than her?(1-603): Nah, we all need something.

Reading over textsfromlastnight.com I realize there are a lot of sick/angry/mean, yet funny people in the world. Some of the texts I really wish I did NOT see and some I think "wow, that is just wrong!" Yet, here I am sharing them with the world even more... Does this make me a sick/angry/mean person too? Man I hope not... I try to only share the decent ones. I hope I haven't failed :/

Happy "Friday" everyone - Have a safe and happy 4th of July and Steph, at least make a patriotic cake or something - Like this:
